Facilities
The V3 Tucson residential site is nestled in the city of Tucson, Arizona and is a private enclave comprised of four (4) separate dwellings (casitas) that provide accommodation to a maximum of twenty (20) residents. Each casita is fully furnished in a simple, yet elegant, style: including two bedrooms (two – three residents per room), a private kitchen, three piece bathroom, and living room area.
The main house is a gathering place for the community – meal preparation is a community effort, as are special holiday celebrations (i.e. - Christmas, Chanukah, Easter, Passover). The evening meal allows the community to be present to gratitude for another day of growth and dignity. The evening meal is elegantly offered on fine china with crystal goblets, fresh flowers, candlelight and fresh linens. All meals are planned, prepared and presented by the residents.
The residential focus at V3 Tucson contributes greatly to the transformation of each resident, and each resident’s contribution within the community evolves over the course of their residency. Ongoing drug and alcohol abuse treatment, combined with psychiatric care and encouragement to take personal responsibility in the treatment of dual-diagnosis disorders, fosters responsibility and pride in the contribution each resident makes within their sober community. At V3 Tucson, service is key.
Located in an Urban setting provides access to a variety of experiential life skill opportunities as residents are responsible for maintaining and sustaining their residence. Accountabilities range from establishing budgets for meals, property maintenance and vocational projects to the execution of meal planning and preparation, grocery shopping, vehicle maintenance, landscaping, event planning and community service activities.
Residents attend at least one 12-step meeting daily within the city of Tucson and are therefore exposed to an expansive 12-step network during residency. Sponsors from local meetings are screened by the V3 Tucson staff and attend dinner onsite every Wednesday. Sundays are also reserved for 12-step work with sponsors. After completion of the V3 Tucson program, this regular exposure to the 12-step community during residency provides a firm foundation for residents to continue their sober lifestyle post-graduation. Recovery is very strong in Tucson and there are also a number of young people’s groups nearby. Participation in off-site meetings, dances, and round-ups is available to the resident on an "as earned" basis.
