coun-sel·ing (koun'səling) n.
- Advice or guidance, especially as solicited from a knowledgeable person
- A plan of action
Many teens and young adults complete rehabilitation programs and then fail in the long-run because they are only counseled on alcohol abuse treatment and/or drug abuse treatment and not taught how to live life on life´s terms.
The V3 TUCSON curriculum is comprised of three main disciplines that are incorporated into every facet of the residential program - Focus, Purpose and Recovery. These disciplines are fundamental to establishing a firm foundation in the pursuit of a productive, effective and contented life. Physical activity is an important facet of the V3 TUCSON program. Adventure Therapy combines physical activity with therapeutic learning – specializing in experiential therapies including adventure-based activities and use of low-element and portable challenge courses and indoor climbing walls. The proximity of the facility to the expansive mountains surrounding the city of Tucson also provides the opportunity for residents to participate in rock climbing, nature trails and camping. Currently in development is a Ropes Course which is designed to foster intimacy, trust and personal growth. Residency also includes membership to L.A. Fitness where residents attend four times per week and enjoy swimming, work outs, racquet ball and a variety of other services offered at the facility. Tennis instruction is included in the weekly schedule and is facilitated by a world renowned tennis pro at the Tucson Tennis and Racquet Club.
Spiritual needs are met through 12-Step Programs, local churches, and Synagogues. We connect with the Universe in many different ways - Yoga and Tai Chi, along with Prayer and meditation are all encouraged to give strength and to broaden horizons.
The City of Tucson boasts a broad range of cultural and historic programs that are designed to educate, entertain and inspire. As an important piece of the V3 TUCSON curriculum, exposure to the opera, cultural diversity, live theater, local/cultural performances, motivational seminars, and self-discovery retreats are also provided to enhance the overall personal development of each resident. Recovery is strong in Tucson and there are a number of young people´s groups nearby. Participation in off-site meetings, dances, and round-ups is available to the resident on an "as earned" basis.
Substance abuse treatment combined with coaching in the areas of the life skills, physical experiential learning and exposure cultural diversity all contribute to the success of the V3 Tucson programs.
